James ("Jim") Oliver, a senior partner in the law firm of Squire Patton Boggs, has a varied corporate practice with substantial experience in mergers and acquisitions, board and policy matters, shareholder disputes, strategic business planning and international transactions. In addition to advising corporations on general legal matters, Jim also advises directors and officers on their fiduciary duties and he routinely counsels executives regarding their employment, compensation and severance contracts. He is also one of the leading lawyers in Ohio with respect to estate planning and wealth transfer issues.
Jim has served as a director or trustee of numerous profit and non-profit boards throughout his career. He is a member of the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and is a Fellow in the America College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He is also a member of The Pepper Pike Golf Club.
Jim received his B.A. from Bowling Green State University in 1966 and his J.D. from University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1969. He enjoys golf, tennis and photography. Jim and his wife, Patricia, are the parents of four adult children and reside in Lakewood, Ohio with their lovable yellow lab, Peaches.
